Travel paperless in premium trains soon

From October, it will be possible to get reservation in prominent trains going via Lucknow using a mobile ticket application.Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has decided to introduce the service in premium trains like Shatabdi Express, Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express to reduce the use of paper.

The ticket will be delivered on the mobile application which the passenger will have to show to the ticket examiner along with one’s Aadhaar. No hard copy of the ticket will be needed. IRCTC chief regional manager Ashwini Srivastava said, “We chose premium trains because passengers on these trains are likely to have smart phones.”
This mode of ticketing is being used in Chennai suburban area and on the Churchgate-Dahanu Road section.
