Through the new program, non-EU citizens can invest a minimum of 250,000 euros in a Greek start-up in exchange for a five-year residency permit

Greece has unveiled an innovative new pathway for international entrepreneurs seeking long-term residency in one of Europe’s most desirable destinations. The country has introduced a five-year golden visa specifically designed for foreign investors who support Greece’s growing startup ecosystem.

Under the new program, non–European Union citizens can qualify for a Greek residence permit by investing a minimum of €250,000 in a registered Greek startup listed on the national Elevate Greece registry. Eligible sectors include travel and tourism, real estate innovation, defense technologies, and financial technology, among others.

The initiative was introduced under Law 5187/2024 and incorporated into Greece’s draft 2025 fiscal plan submitted to the European Commission. The program officially came into effect in November 2025, further strengthening Greece’s position as an attractive destination for global investors and entrepreneurs.

Successful applicants are initially granted a one-year residence permit, which can be renewed every two years for a total duration of five years, provided specific conditions are met. Investors may not hold more than 33% ownership or voting rights in the startup. Additionally, the company must create at least two new jobs within the first year of investment and maintain those positions for a minimum of five years.

After seven years of continuous legal residence in Greece—either through this program or a qualifying alternative—investors may become eligible to apply for permanent residency or Greek citizenship, subject to national requirements.

Applications must be submitted in person at a Greek consulate, with appointments available online. While interest in the program is growing, industry experts note that the initiative is still in its early stages and has not yet been widely adopted.

This new startup-focused visa complements Greece’s existing golden visa offerings, which have traditionally centered on real estate investment. Greece’s real estate golden visa remains one of the most affordable in Europe, with investment thresholds starting at €250,000 for certain property conversions, and higher thresholds in major cities and popular islands. These visas also offer visa-free travel across the Schengen Area.

However, real estate-based golden visas have faced increasing scrutiny across Europe due to concerns about housing affordability and economic imbalance. In response, Greece’s startup investment option aims to redirect foreign capital toward business development, innovation, and job creation, reducing pressure on the housing market while fostering sustainable economic growth.

Similar investor-focused residency programs have recently been introduced in countries such as Malaysia and New Zealand, reflecting a global shift toward investment models that prioritize local enterprise development and long-term economic impact.

With this new golden visa option, Greece is positioning itself not only as a lifestyle destination, but also as a strategic hub for entrepreneurship and innovation in the Mediterranean region.

The Kota Hadoti Travel Mart (KHTM) 2026 commenced on a high note with a grand inaugural ceremony held at the iconic Chambal River Front, Kota. Organised by Rajasthan Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, in association with the Hotel Federation of Rajasthan – Kota Division, the Travel Mart was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, marking a significant step towards placing the Hadoti region on the global tourism map.

Inaugurating the event as Chief Guest, Shri Om Birla highlighted that the Hadoti region offers a rare confluence of heritage, natural beauty, and cultural richness, presenting immense untapped tourism potential. He extended a warm welcome to travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers, investors, and tourism stakeholders from across the country who had gathered to explore and experience the region’s diverse offerings.

Addressing the gathering, the Member of Parliament from Kota emphasised that Hadoti is home to magnificent forts, historic stepwells, architectural marvels, wildlife landscapes, and important religious sites, making it capable of attracting both domestic and international travellers. He specifically referenced key attractions such as the Chambal River Front and River Safari, Taragarh Fort in Bundi, Gagron Fort, and Shahabad Fort, noting that these landmarks have the potential to emerge as flagship tourism attractions.

Stressing the importance of sustained promotion, Shri Birla underlined that platforms like the Kota Hadoti Travel Mart play a pivotal role in ensuring continuous visibility, infrastructure development, and stakeholder engagement. He advocated for the Travel Mart to be organised annually to firmly establish Hadoti as a standalone destination of national and international significance.

Repositioning Hadoti as a Prime Tourism Circuit

The Travel Mart aims to reposition Hadoti—encompassing Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, and Baran—as an independent tourism circuit rather than a peripheral extension of Rajasthan’s more established destinations. Despite its wealth of heritage, wildlife, art forms, and living traditions, the region has remained relatively under-explored, a gap the Travel Mart seeks to address.

Held over three days at Art Hill and Riverfront, Kota, KHTM 2026 featured a comprehensive programme including B2B exhibitions, curated networking sessions, destination experiences, heritage walks, cultural performances, and networking dinners, creating a dynamic platform for meaningful engagement between the travel trade, investors, and destination storytellers.

Strong Trade Participation and High-Level Support

The maiden edition of the Hadoti Travel Mart, held from January 2 to 4, 2026, marked a major milestone in regional tourism promotion. Led by the Hotel Federation of Rajasthan – Kota Division, with support from the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the event hosted over 450 tour operators, travel professionals, media representatives, and influencers from across the country.
The inaugural ceremony at Shaurya Ghat, on the banks of the Chambal River, also witnessed the unveiling of a souvenir booklet titled Magical Hadoti by Shri Om Birla, followed by a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the Kota skyline.

A structured B2B Travel Mart, conducted on January 3 and 4 at Art Hill – Oxyzone City Park, facilitated focused business interactions between buyers and sellers. The B2B sessions were inaugurated by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Diya Kumari, who lit the traditional lamp in the presence of Shri Illyaraj Singh of Kota, senior office bearers of the Hotel Federation of Rajasthan, and representatives from allied organisations.

Event Highlights and Way Forward

The Kota Hadoti Travel Mart 2026 concluded on a high note, fostering meaningful dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and opening new avenues for tourism growth. The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Om Birla and the Hon’ble Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, along with Shri Onkar Singh Lakhawat, Chairman of the Dharohar Vikas Pradhikaran, and other senior dignitaries.

With strong institutional backing and growing industry participation, the Kota Hadoti Travel Mart 2026 stands as a decisive step towards sustainable tourism development, long-term destination branding, and global recognition for the Hadoti region.

Acknowledging the Organising Team

The successful planning and execution of the Kota Hadoti Travel Mart 2026 were made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Hotel Federation of Rajasthan – Kota Division.

The Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, today unveiled its latest tourism brand campaign, ‘Take a New Turn in Arunachal’, positioning the State as India’s ultimate frontier of discovery, cultural immersion, and experiential travel. The campaign launch was presided over by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Education, RWD, Library and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, at Arunachal House, New Delhi.

Anchored in the State’s refreshed brand identity “Beyond Myths and Mountains,” the campaign invites travellers to look beyond scenic valleys and monasteries to uncover the rich stories and human experiences that define Arunachal’s iconic destinations, Tawang, Ziro, Anini, Namsai, Dong and Mechukha. This narrative underscores that in Arunachal, travel is not only about destinations but the unexpected moments, local interactions and deep cultural connect that await every visitor.

“Arunachal is a region as old as history, with rising mountain peaks, colourful vegetation, Buddhist heritage, snow-capped landscapes, diverse tribal culture, and breathtaking biodiversity”, shared by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Education, RWD, Library, and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh at the event. “It has all the ingredients required to be a top tourist destination, from heritage and wildlife to adventure, nature, unique festivals and distinct culture. The very idea of Arunachal Pradesh has resplendence ingrained in it, and the experience of this land is no different”, he said.
Arunachal Pradesh’s tourism sector has witnessed strong post-pandemic growth. In 2023 and 2024, the State recorded more than 1 million tourist visits annually, marking significant increase from pre-pandemic years.
The surge is driven by a holistic approach combining strategic branding, improved connectivity, and experiential travel offerings. The Government’s new tourism policy prioritises enhancements in road and air connectivity, development of visitor amenities, and expansion of accommodation capacity by about 50%. It also emphasises diverse tourism segments, including farm tourism, spiritual tourism, adventure, eco-tourism, tribal tourism and border tourism, reinforcing Arunachal’s appeal as a multi-dimensional travel destination

‘Take a New Turn in Arunachal’ reframes travel as an invitation to explore beyond conventional sightseeing, to see stories, not just sights. Each core destination featured in the campaign serves as a narrative anchor:

• Tawang :Spiritual heritage and Himalayan vistas
• Ziro : Cultural rhythms and indigenous landscapes
• Anini : Land of lakes and waterfalls
• Namsai : Spirituality and riverine culture
• Dong : India’s first sunrise and untamed beauty
• Mechukha : Where Adventure Meets Tranquility

These experiences are brought to life through campaign films and print visuals that capture warm human encounters, spontaneous moments and authentic local interactions, reinforcing Arunachal’s defining essence: discovery through lived experience.

“We refreshed our logo and branding with ‘Beyond Myths and Mountains’ last year,” Minister Sona added. “This campaign builds on that foundation. We are confident that this initiative will positively project Destination Arunachal in national and global tourism markets and help us emerge as one of India’s most sought-after destinations in the coming years.”

Aligned to this vision, the State Tourism Department is also forging partnerships with travel platforms and tour operators to broaden Arunachal’s reach, especially in untapped source markets, while streamlining traveller access and enhancing on-ground experiences.

Conference opens new phase in Kerala’s heritage tourism: Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas

The first international Spice Route Conference will be hosted in Kochi from January 6 to 8, 2026,bringing renewed focus to the commercial and cultural link between the Kerala coast and a vast geography stretching up to the Mediterranean lands over centuries, playing a significant role in shaping history.

The event, organized by the Muziris Heritage Project in collaboration with Kerala Tourism Department, is planned as a landmark international gathering celebrating the shared maritime and cultural heritage of the world and its continued relevance in the global narrative.

The event will also explore new pathways to strengthen cultural and heritage tourism ties among a host of countries across continents that lay in the ambit of the famed Space Route.

Long before modern trade networks and political borders began to evolve, ports along the Malabar Coast, especially the legendary port of Muziris, functioned as vibrant hubs linking Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

The Spice Route, powered by monsoon winds, had served not just as a busy maritime commercial trail but also as a vibrant cultural corridor that carried ideas, faith, art, technology and faith systems, together creating a lasting people-to-people bonding.

The three-day event will be held at the historic Bolgatty Palace, Ernakulam, a site intrinsically linked to centuries of maritime trade and cultural encounters.

The first of its kind initiative in India, the conference is conceived as an intellectual and cultural platform that reconnects the ancient Spice Route with contemporary global discourse.

Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Tourism Minister Shri Mohamed Riyas, said “the International Spice Route Conference marks a new phase in Kerala’s heritage tourism journey.” “Heritage tourism today represents a USD 600-billion global market, and the Spice Route offers Kerala a powerful and authentic story within this space,” the Minister said.

“By re-imagining these historic connections, we are positioning Kerala as a compelling destination for discerning, heritage-focused travelers from across the world, offering immersive experiences rooted in history, culture, and living traditions,” Shri Riyas added.

The Conference seeks to revive this spirit of exchange, positioning Kerala not merely as a destination but as a living crossroad of world heritage and maritime civilization.

The event will see 38 international delegates from 22 countries a part from national participants engaging in absorbing conversations. It will feature a remarkable cross-section of attendees, including academicians and historians, archaeologists, diplomats, policy- makers and tourism stakeholders, artists, cultural practitioners and performers.

The speakers will explore the Spice Routes not as a single trade corridor, but as a vast, interconnected cultural ecosystem that shaped societies across continents. Moving beyond the economics, the conference will delve into the human narratives embedded in maritime history.

Key sessions will include ‘Cultural Exchange & Diaspora: migration, linguistic fusion and shared identities shaped by maritime movement’; ‘Knowledge, Faith & Philosophy: the spread of science, medicine, belief systems, and intellectual traditions across oceans’ ; ‘Colonial Encounters & Enduring Legacies: Understanding the long-term cultural and political impacts of maritime colonialism’ and ‘Maritime Technologies & Logistics: The historical movement of goods, ideas, and innovations across sea routes.’

Complementing the thematic sessions, the event will offer delegates a deeply immersive cultural journey into Kerala’s living heritage. These include ‘The Muziris Experience’ -curated heritage trails across key Muziris sites, combined with a traditional sea voyage echoing ancient maritime routes; ‘Contemporary Art Engagement’ – a special visit to Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2025–26;‘Performing Traditions’ – renditions of Kerala Jewish songs and a compelling performance of Chavittu Nadakam, Kerala’s unique Latin-Christian classical dance-drama. These will together turn the event from a scholarly forum into a sensory and experiential encounter with history.

The conference also signals Kerala’s intent to tap into the growing global demand for high-value, experiential and culturally immersive travel.

Scholars, heritage professionals, tourism stakeholders, cultural practitioners, students, and global heritage enthusiasts have also been invited to the event. Registration to the conference is now open and further details are available on the official Kerala Tourism portal https://www.keralatourism.org/muziris.

Sharjah’s tourism sector is entering a transformative phase in 2025, driven by strategic investments, international partnerships, and an enhanced focus on high-value markets. According to H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), India continues to stand as one of the emirate’s strongest contributors to tourism growth.

“India remains one of Sharjah’s top five source markets in 2025, playing a pivotal role not only in visitor volume but also in value and engagement,” he says. Sharjah welcomed over 172,000 Indian visitors in 2024, reflecting sustained year-on-year growth. This momentum has continued into 2025, fuelled by rising demand from major Indian metros seeking luxury, culture-rich, and experiential travel.

To align with evolving traveller preferences, Sharjah has strengthened its understanding of the market. “We have adopted a data-led approach to analyse Indian traveller behaviour and design targeted campaigns and curated itineraries tailored to families, culture explorers, adventure seekers, and premium travellers,” H.E. Al Midfa explains.

In the first five months of 2025, Sharjah recorded a 32% increase in Indian arrivals, welcoming 88,000 visitors compared to 66,000 during the same period in 2024. This growth, he notes, is a result of “consistent engagement through trade shows, roadshows, partnerships, and digital campaigns crafted specifically for the Indian market.”

Sharjah has placed strategic focus on high-potential segments such as adventure and experiential tourism, supported by the emirate’s diverse natural landscapes and high-profile events like the F1H2O Grand Prix of Sharjah, as well as MICE and destination weddings. “We see strong interest from planners seeking boutique, culturally immersive, and easily accessible venues,” he adds.

Beyond market engagement, Sharjah is accelerating major infrastructure projects to enrich its visitor experience. The revitalisation of Kalba, with restored heritage sites, a redesigned Corniche, and improved roadways, is enhancing accessibility and cultural appeal. Meanwhile, modernisation efforts at landmarks such as the Mleiha Archaeological Centre and the Heart of Sharjah are elevating heritage tourism while preserving authenticity.

Sharjah International Airport’s $336 million expansion is also underway, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to world-class, sustainable infrastructure.

Sustainability remains a core pillar of Sharjah’s tourism vision. With the global sustainable tourism market projected to reach $11.4 trillion by 2032, Sharjah is investing in projects such as the Hanging Gardens, Al Hefaiyah Lake, and eco-luxury retreats like Kingfisher Retreat and Moon Retreat. “Our goal is to protect natural habitats while offering responsible, meaningful travel experiences,” says H.E. Al Midfa.

With continued investment and a clear vision, Sharjah is positioning itself as a future-ready destination that blends heritage, sustainability, and innovation for global travellers, especially those from India.

An Extraordinary Showcase of Madhya Pradesh’s Culture, Tourism, and Cuisine at Bharat Parv 2025

On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of India’s Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Bharat Parv” is being celebrated with great enthusiasm from November 1 to November 15 at the Statue of Unity, Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. On the 11th day of the celebration, November 11, the Madhya Pradesh Day was inaugurated by Hon’ble Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel. The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Jagdish Deora, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism and Culture, Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, Culture, and Religious Trusts & Endowments, Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, said that the purpose of this celebration is to uphold the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, showcasing unity in diversity across the nation. Under Bharat Parv, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has set up an impressive theme pavilion spanning approximately 25 square meters, beautifully presenting the state’s tourism, culture, and handicraft heritage.

The pavilion features glimpses of Madhya Pradesh’s iconic destinations such as Sanchi, Khajuraho, Bhimbetka, Mandu, Orchha, Ujjain, and Omkareshwar, along with its renowned national parks like Bandhavgarh, Kanha, and Pench. The performance captivated the audience by depicting the ancient civilization, devotion, love, and harmony with nature that define Madhya Pradesh.

The presentation began with the prehistoric cave art of Bhimbetka, moving through the artistic splendour of Khajuraho temples, the serenity of Sanchi Stupas, and the spiritual essence of Chitrakoot. The grandeur of Ujjain and Omkareshwar Jyotirlingas, the history of Gwalior Fort, the romance of Mandu, and the divine architecture of Orchha temples came alive on stage. The natural beauty of Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench, and the marble rocks of Jabalpur were also artistically represented, portraying mankind’s connection with nature.

Performers adorned in traditional Maheshwari, Chanderi, and Bagh print attires highlighted the state’s textile and craft legacy. The performance concluded with the spiritually uplifting Narmada Aarti, taking the audience on a transcendental journey that left them mesmerized.

State sets a model in sustainable, inclusive experiences: Kerala Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas

Kerala Tourism has unpacked a set of experiential products tailored to meet the demands of the domestic and international travelers as the festival and winter holiday seasons kick in, assuring visitors a quality time while engaging with the state’s mesmeric charm and famed hospitality.

Besides reinforcing its credentials as a globally acclaimed hospitable and safe destination, the state has come up with a slew of riveting experiences, including new locales, side-by-side the time-honoured backwaters, beaches and hill stations.

Through its strategic initiatives Kerala has set a new model of sustainable and inclusive tourism development, Kerala Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas, said in a message to the media session organised by Kerala Tourism Department as part of its ‘Network Kerala’ B2B Tourism Meet held at the Crowne Plaza, Okhla, in the city today.

“As a global brand, Kerala Tourism has made a paradigm shift by firmly positioning it as an inclusive, experiential and regenerative destination that offers diverse choices to visitors in the length and breadth of the state,” says Shri Riyas.

Kerala Tourism’s Tourist Information Officer Shri S Sreekumar made a presentation highlighting the unique products and experiences of God’s Own Country.

The day-long event saw sellers from Kerala and buyers from the national capital coming together to clinch business deals for promoting the destination in the ongoing season. The event concluded with a cultural programme, showcasing the state’s diverse performing traditions.

Significantly, the current in-bound season for Kerala coincides with the 6th edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, beginning on December 12. One of world’s major contemporary art shows with convergence of artists from across the world, the event will go on till March 31st, 2026.

Also, the state recently unveiled a Vision Document which will serve as a template for development of tourism that will unlock Kerala’s untapped potential as an ever-fascinating destination, besides bringing to fore many best kept secrets.

The vision document emphasises on tourism business innovations and investments in related products, including wellness tourism and adventure tourism, besides harnessing the potential of heritage, cultural, and spiritual tourism.

The policy aims to transform Kerala into a complete digital and smart tourism ecosystem through integrated visitor management, smart ticketing, AR/VR (augmented/virtual reality) experiences, and analytics based on artificial intelligence.

New products and packages rolled out by the state have received a highly encouraging response at networking events and tourism fairs in major cities in India and abroad.

Similarly, Kerala Tourism earlier this month hosted India’s first Travel Literary Festival, ‘Yaanam 2025’, at the picturesque coastal town of Varkala near the state capital. The event drew top travel writers and social media influencers from across the world. Moved by the ambience and vibrancy of the three-day event, packed with engaging conversations, the participants wanted it to be an annual festival.

Kerala also stands out as the first state to adopt a focused woman-friendly tourism policy, firming up its global standing as a safe and clean destination for women to travel and experience its diverse charms, including a hands-on feel of the cultural and livelihood traditions of the village communities.

Of late, there has been an uptick in footfall of women tourists in the state, both as solo travelers and as part of all-woman group packages, many of which are conducted by women entrepreneurs themselves.

Kerala has also showcased its readiness to the world for Destination Weddings and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), both segments developed with a robust partnership with the tourism and hospitality industry.

The state’s premier tourism industry body, the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) Society, in partnership with the government, held a Wedding and MICE Conclave in Kochi in August this year, which was attended by buyers from around the world.

With its spectacular landscapes, world-class facilities and seamless blend of tradition and modernity, the state is attracting event planners, couples and corporate clients looking for a distinctive and memorable experience.

The state has also made a strong reputation in sustainable and inclusive tourism through its globally appreciated Responsible Tourism Mission Society, which has added a string of destinations in partnership with local communities.

Alongside the new projects, the state’s core assets like beaches, hill stations, houseboats and backwaters continue to elevate the totality of the visitors’ experience. These include village and plantation visits, stay at jungle resorts, homestays, Ayurveda-based wellness solutions, adventure activities and countryside and heritage walk and trekking to verdant hills.

The strategic initiatives in the tourism sector, a key contributor to the state’s gross domestic revenue, is evident from the sharp increase in footfalls in the last few years, surpassing the pre-pandemic numbers.

The physical infrastructure related to tourism has also been reconfigured by adopting sustainable conservation models and introducing a cutting-edge design policy for elevating the aesthetic appeal of public assets.
