Floating restaurant proposed for Vizag

Union Minister for Shipping Nitin Gadkari asked Visakhapatnam Port Trust officials to examine the feasibility of having a floating restaurant off the city’s coast as an addition to Vizag’s tourism landscape.

“I request VPT officials to examine the possibility of having a floating restaurant on the sea,” Gadkari said, adding that Mumbai is already building similar restaurants. The minister also said they are planning to start cruise terminals at every major port.

“We have started cruise terminal work in Mumbai. The first cruise from Mumbai to Goa will be on August 1. We are planning to start cruise tourism in the Krishna too,” Gadkari said. The minister added that a sewage water treatment plant will be set up at every port.

“We would not allow any port to discharge sewage water into the sea. Wastewater has to be recycled,” the minister said.

The Visakhapatnam Port Trust has a 10 MLD sewage treatment plant.
