Amadeus workshop on ‘Live Travel Space & the Impact of NDC on Air Content Distribution’

The travel industry is moving towards increased personalization, as merchandizing techniques drive new revenues, business opportunities and as travelers expect brands to know them and adapt offers accordingly.

It was against this backdrop that Amadeus announced the creation of a dedicated program to drive the industrialisation of NDC and ensure its success for all travel players. New Distribution Capability (NDC), is a new XML-based interface that enables travel companies – from airlines to travel agencies – to evolve travel distribution and merchandising. With this in mind the Amadeus NDC-X program brings together experts from Amadeus’ businesses and focuses on practical use cases of the standard, adopting a test and learn approach to deliver improved capabilities for the industry. The NDC-X program is a continuation of Amadeus’ previous work towards the digitalisation of the industry and the creation of commercial possibilities to build on NDC.

Amadeus held an event in Roseate House New Delhi that began with a session on ‘the Impact of NDC On Air Content Distribution’ by Champa Magesh, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Retail Travel Channels.  Magesh shared “At Amadeus, we recognize that we have a responsibility to make NDC work for all travel players, and that’s what we will be doing through our NDC-X program. The NDC-X program is a strategic priority for Amadeus. Our aim is to create better journeys for travelers through the best use of technology, and this transversal program will work with our travel seller and airline customers to deliver just that”.

She also shared that the shifting nature of business travel requires corporations and TMCs to adapt to a world which is more dynamic and agile which has inspired the evolution of Amadeus from being a global distribution system to becoming an open, dynamic and connected live travel space.

The range of Amadeus products and solutions showcased at the forum included Amadeus Ticket Changer (ATC), Amadeus Travel Alerts Notifier (ATAN), Amadeus Master Pricer Expert and Amadeus Sell Connect (SECO), the only fully cloud-based booking and fulfilment platform within the travel industry, designed to save time, money, improve performance and efficiency. The dynamic range of products also included CashX, a complete web-based business accounting software which is convenient for back office operations. It enables multi service options designed to handle multiple currencies at a single point within the same document and is accurate and reliable at the same time.
