Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere, Vayalar focuses on green initiatives
Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere, Vayalar, focuses on green initiatives, recycles discarded towels into planter boxes!
Green is a huge theme at Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere Vayalar, no less evident than at architecture, design and facilities in and around the hotel. As a part of its sustainability efforts, the premium backwater resort in the virgin region of Vayalar, has started a new process of recycling discarded towels by turning them into a planter box. This initiative from the Engineering & Housekeeping department at the hotel further reinforces its belief on Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
A simple but highly significant initiative involves a process by which discarded towels are dipped in a cement mix and moulded into various shapes before the cement starts to set. They are left to dry for 02 days after which they can be painted and used as a planter box or for various other utilities. A number of planter boxes have already been used successfully in various areas of the hotel. The team plans to continue making these planter boxes that would be used in all guest areas including smaller towels for table top, banquet table centre piece etc.
The team at Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere works hard to provide amenities and programs that reduce their environmental footprint on the planet. The hotel also won the First Place award in Kerala under “Hotels” category by Kerala State Pollution Control Board in their Annual Awards 2017.
