Kempinski Seychelles Resort recognized by Luxury Travel Guide for eco-friendly efforts

Kempinski Seychelles Resort is the winner of the Luxury Travel Guide’s Luxury Eco-Friendly Hotel Award for Seychelles.

The accolade, which recognizes the resort’s efforts to adopt sustainable practices, was announced earlier last week. Some of the sustainable practices adopted by Kempinski Seychelles Resort include having its own on-site water-treatment plant to recycle water, which is used for landscaping purposes.

In 2017, the hotel also invested in a number of green technologies for water and energy conservation. Kempinski Seychelles’ Plant-a-Tree Program is another initiative introduced to off-set some of its operational carbon emissions, while aiming to restore natural habitats, protect indigenous wildlife and educating guests about Seychelles’ biodiversity. Guests staying at the resort are also encouraged to adopt sustainable practices while staying on the island.

The General Manager of Kempinski Seychelles Resort, Masami Egami, said: “We are delighted to receive this tribute alongside all those who have excelled in the industry and will continue to strive to be a living and working example of sustainable best practices.”

“The Luxury Travel Guide Awards represent the pinnacle of hospitality achievement, championing the best in their respective fields; therefore, to come out on top is truly an achievement we are proud of,” he added.

The Luxury Travel Guide Awards recognize and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the travel and tourism industry.  Their team of experts travel extensively across the globe in order to identify and highlight the very best hotels, airlines, tour operators and reputable service companies .

For Kempinski Seychelles Resort, the Luxury Travel Guide’s Luxury Eco-Friendly Hotel Award is the latest in a string of recognitions for the hotel’s efforts to mainstream sustainable business practices into its day-to-day operations.

Last year, the hotel was awarded its third consecutive Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label and achieved Bronze Benchmark status through EarthCheck, the world’s leading environmental management and professional services group for the travel and tourism industry.
