New toy train likely at Patna zoo
The Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, also known as Patna Zoo, has conducted a survey and come up with two proposals for running a new toy train on its premises. According to the first proposal, the toy train will run on the existing tracks with a few changes because of the Rhino Breeding Centre in the eastern part of the zoo. As per the second one, new tracks for the train will be laid in front of the animal enclosures.
Zoo officials will submit the proposals to the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) of India by the end of this month. Patna zoo director Amit Kumar said a model for the new toy train had been prepared on the lines of the existing one. “We have come up with two designs- we may reduce the length of existing tracks or lay new tracks so that people have enough space to walk.”
The toy train has been out of order since 2014 after it got derailed in the western side of the zoo. It passes through animal enclosures, two lakes and the botanical area of the zoo.
