It is expected that this year’s monsoon will further be a reason to attract visitors in large number. Apart from various prime attractions, the one that has always remained a major crowd puller is the Gir Forest. The presence of Asiatic lions in this forest makes it the pride of Gujarat and India. The festival was inaugurated by Ganpatsinh Vasava, the Minister of State for Tourism and Forest, on September 1 at Helipad Ground in Bhalchel Village.
The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) is, in fact, celebrating Gir Monsoon Festival to encourage people from other parts of the country to visit this region. MD of TCGL Jenu Devan said that people come to Gir as it is the only place outside Africa that once can see Asiatic lions. Moreover, during monsoon, the forest turns into a beauty. The MD further stated that Gir Festival offers tourists a perfect chance to explore Gir Forest and at the same time enjoy the culture, art and versatile traditions of Gujarat.
And with more than 300 species of animals and 30 kinds of mammals, the Gir Forest has so much to offer to both tourists and travellers alike.
