SIA coordinates Indian operations
Singapore Airlines has improved connectivity between India and Singapore, by forming a codeshare partnership between three of its carriers – SIA, SilkAir and Vistara.
Under the new arrangement, which commenced this week, SIA and SilkAir will codeshare on a series of Indian domestic flights operated by Vistara.
SIA will place its ‘SQ’ code on Vistara’s flights to 10 destinations from Mumbai and Delhi, while SilkAir will add its ‘MI’ code to Vistara-operated flights to six destinations from Bengaluru and Kolkata.
Passengers will be able to book single-ticket travel on a combination of SIA and Vistara or SilkAir and Vistara, with their baggage checked through to the final destination. They will also be able earn frequent flyer miles.
“We are very pleased with our first codeshare agreement with Vistara, which represents a strengthening of our already strong partnership,” said SIA’s senior vice president of marketing planning, Tan Kai Ping. “Through the new codeshare agreement, both SIA and SilkAir are able to expand our network reach in the important India market, providing our customers even more travel options and enhanced KrisFlyer benefits.”
As a result of the agreement, four new destinations will be added to the SIA’s network: Bhubaneswar, Goa, Guwahati and Port Blair.
