Cox and Kings-owned MEININGER Hotels has signed a contract for a new hotel in Heidelberg.

MEININGER Hotels and Hirotani Projektgesellschaft mbH have signed a contract for a new hotel in Heidelberg, Germany. The hotel will be located at the Carl-Benz-street 4-6 close to the central station. The opening of the first MEININGER hotel in Heidelberg is planned for the beginning of 2019 with a lease term of 20 years. The new hotel will offer 336 beds in 100 rooms on five floors.

The Old Town (Altstadt) and city center are easily accessible due to the project’s walking-friendly location close to the central station as well as excellent public transport connections. Within immediate proximity is the new district Bahnstadt with its numerous shopping options.

HannesSpanring, CEO of the MEININGER Group said, “We are very happy that we will open our new MEININGER hotel in such a history-charged city. The university town of Heidelberg is an outstanding addition to the already substantial MEININGER portfolio within Germany.”

Peter Kerkar, Director, Cox & Kings Ltd said, “It’s a great pleasure to sign the agreement for our MEININGER hotel in Heidelberg. With this project we enter a strategically important market and constitutes a significant step in our expansion in Europe.”
