Eurowings makes basic fare available through Sabre

The Lufthansa Group’s low-cost airline Eurowings has expanded its agreement with leading global travel technology provider Sabre Corporation by making its BASIC fare available through the Sabre travel marketplace.  The move will help the airline in its aim to grow profitably by offering an unrivalled choice and flight network to its customers.

Through API-connectivity, Sabre-connected travel agents are now able to shop and book Eurowings’ budget fare, BASIC, which caters for travellers that only want to pay for the flight itself.  This is in addition to the carrier’s other two fare types – its standard fare SMART and its premium fare BEST – which are also available through Sabre.

“Eurowings is undertaking a large scale growth plan that is built on serving both price-sensitive and service-oriented customers,” said Alessandro Ciancimino, vice president EMEA, supplier commerce at Sabre. “This means giving both business and leisure travellers the ability to book low-cost basic fares as well as the option to add a wide range of extra services to suit their individual needs.  By making its BASIC fare available through Sabre, Eurowings will reach an unrivalled network of agents, helping it to grow within a competitive marketplace.”

The Lufthansa Group recently announced a plan to add more than 60 aircraft to the Eurowings fleet, which will cement its reputation as one of Europe’s fastest-growing point-to-point low- cost airlines. Sabre’s technology is already enabling the airline to maximise its reach through the Sabre Travel Marketplace, connecting it to more than 425,000 travel agents globally.  This will help to ensure that travellers have access to the best possible deals available while creating more revenue opportunities for the airline and travel agents.

“Eurowings is Europe’s fastest-growing airline. In addition to the expansion of flight operations, digitalization of our product portfolio cross over all distribution channels has a high priority. It also means, that travel agencies can offer their customers the wide range of our fares and ancillaries.” said Oliver Schmitt, Vice President Sales, Distribution and Digitalisation, Eurowings.  “By cooperation with Sabre’s reservations technology more than 425,000 travel agents across the world get access to our basic fare and thus the possibility to share a unique offer according to customers’ requirements.”
