Guesthouses Maldives Conference 2016 was organized by one of the leading PR firms, Maldives Getaways, was held recently. The conference, inaugurated by the Minister of Finance and Treasury, Mr Ahmed Munawar, was attended by over 160 guesthouse owners, leading travel agents from Maldives and biggest around the globe. In addition, 15 of the biggest business partners were associated in the conference. During the closed event pure business presentations and networking was held.
Morning sessions provided some useful insight on how to conquer potential travel markets through OTAs. These were presented by the global elites of tourism such as Booking.com, Expedia, Vista Rooms. Important analysis, in terms of safety and security, were provided by Hussain Rasheed (Sendi), an expert on diving experience, while constrains on development and hotel standards were highlighted by Mr. Ahmed Naseer (CEO, CMDA). The Premium Partners of the conference utilized its opportunity to unveil new and exciting products in front of 160 guesthouse owners. Afternoon sessions provided tax awareness information by MIRA, while Mega Maldives presented the importance of airline industry to the guesthouse Market.
Speaking to Media, Director Business Development of Maldives Getaways, Dr Hussain Sunny Umar said that Guesthouses Maldives Conference is a marketing campaign to promote Maldives guesthouse industry and the key focus for the next few years is to attract a number of 500,000 tourist arrivals by the end of 2020.
The chief guest also added that the Guesthouse Industry is the fastest growing industry occupying a large sector of the tourism industry. Empowering the youth and empowering women is what the guest house industry should focus on. The government is currently focusing on developing and empowering the middleclass, and we are taking steps to develop this sector with various loans.
