India’s Lalit Suri to open first international hotel in London

70-room Lalit London to launch by end of 2016!

India’s Lalit Suri Hospitality Group has selected London as the site for its first overseas property.

Set to open in late 2016, The Lalit London will be located in a Grade II-listed building that was originally designed by Edward Mountford, the architect of the Old Bailey. Dating back to 1893, the property lies close to Tower Bridge.

Following a major renovation it has now been transformed into a 70-room luxury hotel with facilities including an Indian restaurant called Baluchi, a bar, gym, and a spa offering traditional therapies, including Ayurvedic treatments, colour healing and yoga. The opening of The Lalit London marks the culmination of a long-held ambition held by Keshav Suri, executive director of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group.

“My family has a karmic connection with this city, in fact all of us have grown up or studied in London. My father passed away here in 2006 and since then my mother, Dr Suri, and I have wanted to fulfil his wish of owning a hotel in London and I am glad that is finally becoming a reality,” he revealed.

Headquartered in Delhi, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group opened its first hotel in 1988. Its portfolio now comprises 11 luxury hotels across India, including locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Srinagar, Bengaluru, Udaipur, Khajuraho, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Kerala. It also operates two midscale hotels under ‘The Lalit Traveller’ brand in Jaipur and Khajuraho.

The company’s international expansion will continue in future, with plans to launch a new resort in Koh Samui, Thailand.
