Taiwan: An island of alluring landscapes

A fascinating island, Taiwan is gifted with exotic landscapes among many things which in- clude rich culture, historical her- itage and varied cuisines.

Taiwan is increasingly becoming popular among international tourists and emerging as an attractive destination in the East Asia with its natural beauty, rich culture, world-class infrastructure and warm and hospitable people coupled with the sustained efforts of Taiwan Tourism Bureau to promote the destination. Indians are also getting attracted to Taiwan. Those who visit this island nation always return with fond memories and wonderful experience. I recently visited Taiwan. This was my first visit to Taiwan, and I enjoyed the every moment of my stay in Taiwan. I visited Taiwan as part of a group and I never had a feeling that I was away from home because of hospitality and warmth I received there. Guides, drivers, hotel staff, everyone was so caring!

Taiwan is a lovely destination for people who are keen to connect to the nature, explore historical heritage, and want to rejuvenate or relax or simply indulge in shopping spree. Taiwan has something for every kind of tourists, whether they are nature-lovers, cultural tourists, adventure tourists or wildlife enthusiasts. Natural scenery, mountains covered with greenery, varied wildlife, sandy beaches, intriguing culture, festivals, archeological heritage, and many more attractions in Taiwan coupled with warm and hospitable people, will make you fall in love with this country.

Taiwan is a beautiful island blessed with enormous amount of natural diversity. A large part of Taiwan is mountainous with a lot of mountains full with lush vegetation dotting its landscapes. The island also has a large forest cover, which makes it a very ecological destination. It has many national parks, forests to explore.

Taiwan is a perfect destination for all kinds of water sports and activities. Many sandy beaches and offshore isles offer great settings for water sports and activities. Your visit to Taiwan won’t be complete without a trip to Kenting, which is a very attractive place to visit in Taiwan. Situated 90 km from Kaohsiung, Kenting has a year-round sunny tropical weather, crystal clear seawater, beautiful sandy beaches along with seaside greenery and green mountains. The beaches here are so beautiful! Kenting is also famous for seeing marine life. Offshore Kenting is popular among divers and snorkelers for its coral reefs. They can see multi-colored tropical fish, cathedral-like coral structures and extraordinary underwater animals. Tourists visiting Kenting can enjoy water activities such as swimming, surfing, water-skiing, parasailing, water-bike riding, various types of boating, snorkeling and diving etc. Kenting also has vibrant night market, which is worth visiting. In the night market you can enjoy local street foods and buy stuff of your choice. But do bargain for reasonable price.

The Kenting National Park is one of the best attractions in Kenting, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The Kenting National Park is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Taiwan. Its tropical climate, scenic mountains, dense forest along with its sandy beaches makes it one of the popular attractions in Taiwan. The park is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Taiwan Strait, and the Luzon Strait.

Kenting National Forest Recreation Area is a key highlight of the Kenting National Park. It offers an excellent scenic setting for a pleasant excursion. The National Kenting Park mainly comprises two key areas: one area has wildlife and other has scenic coasts. The White Lighthouse tower provides a good venue to get the stunning view of the park. There are caves inside the park. This is perfect place to see and observe plants and wildlife.

Hot Air Balloon has become a popular event in Taiwan and it is held at many places in the country. Apart from the local people, the event also attracts national and international tourists. Recently Hot Air Balloon Festival known as Taitung international balloon festival was held in Luye Gaotai, Taitung City. Visitors at the event experienced activities such as Grass Skiing and Hot Air Balloon ride. Taitung International Balloon Festival is an amazing and colorful event, with many big and colorful hot air balloons flying in the sky. A ride on the hot air balloon at Luye Gaotai gives you amazing aerial view of the local landscape which includes mountains, river, valleys, and plains.

An interesting and informative place to visit in Taiwan is The National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, which is located on the southern coast of Taiwan near Kenting in Checheng Township, Pingtung County. The museum opened in 2000 and has variety of marine species to exhibit. Waters of Taiwan, Coral Kingdom Pavilion and World Waters Pavilion are three main exhibitions in the marine museum. The Waters of Taiwan show a wide range of native marine species from all over Taiwan.

Taiwan has something for every kind of tourists. Nature, wildlife, beaches, culture, festivals, heritage, museums, shopping and off course warm and hospitable people of the country, all make it a perfect destination to visit.

Taiwan has a wide variety of cuisines including vegetarian foods to choose from, and most of the time you will be served food as per your choice. My experience from the moment I arrived Taiwan till the day I departed was amazing. The island has unlimited and amazing food options for tourists.
