‘Tourism will grow in the new inbound season’
Rishi Puri, Vice President, Lords Hotels & Resorts, says that there are few factors, both internal as well as external which make him confident of growth in the new season. We are very optimistic about the growth of inbound tourism this season.
There are few factors which are both internal and external which make us confident of the growth this year. The external factors include rolling out of liberal e-visa scheme by the government which wishes to make India a favorite tourist destination.Secondly the recent depreciation of Indian Rupees vis a vis US Dollar makes India an inexpensive destination.
India appears to have overcome the issue of women’s safety and dollar less growth to draw at least 10% more tourists than last year. Significantly the increase in tourists can also be seen due to the recent development of e-tourist Visas. The traffic will surely increase this season. Not only this even the state governments are also getting more prompt over tourist and tourism related issues. Special measure are being taken by government to facilitate International and domestic tourism by upgrading Air, Road & Rail services .The connectivity isn’t a big problem now with more smoother roads and more over online booking portals and information are even further helping the tourist to visit the places easily which was quiet a task earlier .
Right now there is one issue with E-visas and that is limited entry points for entering the country. Say a person who is travelling to Kochi will have to first enter Delhiget his e-visa stamped here and take another flight to Kochi, though there was a direct flight between his city and Kochi.Government is aware of this issue and trying to resolve this by opening more e-visa centers in the country.Besides our embassies should publicize the e-visa’s scheme in the respective countries where they are based.
