YOGA in GOA: This International Yoga Day 21st June 2017

This is by no stretch of the imagination that YOGA and GOA have a deep connect! Take a closer look and you will see G O A  inscribed in YOGA…and perhaps  ‘Y’  this  is inspiring  enough for anyone  to  maneuvere mind and body to head to Goa this International Yoga Day on 21st June  2017. It is said that yoga is the most favorable method to connect to nature and it’s only natural that Goa’s beauty   attracts tourists to the alternate escapes for exercise and experiences.

The perfect crescent  of the  beach belt,  the forest of  coconut trees tilting towards  the steady churn of the surf is inspiring and one can  strike a stylish poses  beach front  backwards like the crashing waves  or sway from side to side   like the palm trees, or simply shut off to the humdrum  and  din of life atop a mesmerizing hillock. Let nature be the master. When one thinks of yoga….one thinks of Goa which is now a home to several yoga retreat resorts and retreat centers tucked away in the cozy crevices of nature with soothing landscapes and scenic shorelines.

While it is said that India is a growing as a wellness destination with an estimated growth rate of around 20 to 22 percent per annum, the concept of wellness tourism in Goa is growing and Yoga is contributing immensely to this segment.  While places like Arambol in North Goa  and  Pallolem and  beyond  in South Goa  are huge on Yoga,  other parts  of Goa especially the  beach front have  a fair share  of  yoga retreats,  trainings, workshops etc.  It is also the organic food and rustic accommodation at several of the yoga centers and resorts that make the exercise of a yoga holiday more meaningful.

Goa’s clean air is also a reason that makes the prayanams more effective for cleansing of mind, body and soul.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Manohar Ajgaonkar, Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Goa said, “Goa has amazing locales to perform yoga. Today everybody is health conscious and are shifting to ancient alternatives for healing like yoga. We are seeing a growing trend of travelers opting for Yoga Holidays and there is no better place than Goa. I am optimistic that in the years to come Goa will be a leading destination for foreign and domestic tourists choosing Goa for wellness tourism and in particular for yoga.”

Goa may be a small State in India and a  young yoga hub in comparison to other cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune etc.  However, Goa offers the perfect platform for attaining peace of mind and body with its bountiful beauty.  Tour and travel operators have also opened up flexible holiday packages which incorporates a yoga tour especially for foreign tourists from Europe.

This monsoon season,  it will be  reigning  yoga in Goa, and Goa Tourism  is optimistic that holidaying and  healing   through ancient  Indian  recipes  will make Goa one  of India’s appealing  locations with yearnings  for that  experience  of an eternal youth from travelers in the years  to come.
