IndiGo strengthens domestic connectivity with the launch of Vijayawada as its 50th destination
• Effective March 2018, 6E to connect Vijayawada to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai
• Becomes the largest airline to operate 1000 flights, connecting 50 destinations with 150 Airbus A320s and 1 ATR 72-600
Establishing the growing importance of emerging domestic sectors from South India, IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing low-cost carrier, has announced Vijayawada as its 50th destination on its route network. Effective March 02, 2018, IndiGo will operate daily direct operations connecting Vijayawada to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. Both corporate and leisure customers travelling from Vijayawada will now have the opportunity to experience the hassle-free, on-time performance that IndiGo is synonymous with. In line with company’s growth strategy, the airline has also inducted a brand new Airbus A320 NEO aircraft into its existing fleet taking the overall count to 150 aircraft.
The launch of Vijayawada comes just after the carrier’s first ATR flight on Hyderabad – Mangalore sector on December 21, 2017; boosting regional connectivity. IndiGo will also commence operations from Rajahmundry and Tirupati in January 2018.
