Indore Marriot supports cleanliness drive of the city

Recently, the city of Indore and Bhopal have been ranked first and second position respectively in the category of cleanest cities in India under the ‘Swachh Sarvekshan 2018’ for the 2nd consecutive year. This survey has been conducted in around 4200 cities all over India. While most metropolitan Indian cities are laden with an acrid odor, wreck and litter, growing towns like Indore and Bhopal have managed to retain its title and have been proven that Madhya Pradesh is a star state in cleanliness.

Supporting the cleanliness drive, Ajay Thakur, Executive Housekeeper, Indore Marriott Hotel said, “We celebrate an international community day called ‘Spirit to Serve’ that focuses on various issues related to cleanliness, Food & Shelter, Vitality of Children, and the environment. This activity intends to highlight the importance of cleanliness in and around the area and how it helps to make it more comfortable for the society to live in. We also conduct sessions to create awareness on cleanliness in the hotel. One such area we focus on is informing our employees about waste segregation, which is the separation of wet and dry garbage.”

The hotel have more than 3000 trees and plants, some of the trees are over 100 years old and haven’t been removed during the hotel construction work. The segregated dry and wet garbage is reused as manure for the planted trees. The hotel also use eco-friendly chemicals that do not affect the environment and are also certified by Ecolab the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services.

Ecolab has sustainable benefits, ranging from reduced plastic based consumption that are free of over 99% phosphate and phosphorous chemicals. These are biodegradable ingredients with no carcinogens, mutagens and reproductive toxins. The unique and highly concentrated product packaging also brings plastic waste reduction down drastically. The water wastage is also tackled sense fully by installing aerator’s in the guestrooms, public area washrooms and on water taps. This helps control excess wastage of water.
