Singapore Airlines unveils new Premium Economy Class Experience in India

Singapore Airlines is introducing its new Premium Economy cabin class on the Delhi and Mumbai routes starting from 25 October 2015 and 02 January 2016 respectively. It will be available on the Airbus A380 services from both cities to Singapore and onwards to Sydney, Hong Kong, Auckland, Frankfurt and Los Angeles. The Premium Economy Class will be progressively introduced across the Singapore Airlines global network on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and the first 20 Airbus A350s.

Following a two-year development programme and an investment of about US$80 million, the Premium Economy Class will welcome customers to a contemporary and stylish design. Each seat has a width of 19.5 inches (on the A380) with an 8- inch recline and a seat pitch of 38 inches in a 2-4-2 layout. Together with active noise-cancelling headphones and a sleek 13.3-inch full HD monitor, the largest in its class, featuring an intelligent and unique touchscreen graphical user interface (GUI), customers can look forward to an enhanced KrisWorld In-Flight Entertainment experience. Other features include a full leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar for every seat, individual in-seat power supply, 2 USB ports, personal in-seat reading light, Collectors’ edition amenity kit, headrest cover, cushion, blanket, cocktail table, and more storage space for personal items.

Customers travelling on Singapore Airlines’ new Premium Economy Class can look forward to a wide range of in-flight offerings including a Premium Economy “Book the Cook” service, champagne and curated wines and a specially-designed collector’s edition amenity kit.

The Book the Cook service is available for all flights originating from Singapore. Customers will also be able to pair their choice of meal with a glass of Ernest Rapeneau Brut Prestige champagne, which will be available throughout the flight on all routes. On ground, Premium Economy customers enjoy priority check-in, priority baggage and an increased baggage allowance of 35 kg. Furthermore, members of the KrisFlyer frequent- flyer programme will also receive 10% more miles when they fly in Premium Economy Class.

David Lau, General Manager – India commented, “Our decision to introduce Premium Economy is in response to the feedback received from our customers who highlighted the increasing global acceptance for this new cabin class. The product offering has been specifically tailored to provide Economy Class passengers an alternative for medium – long haul travel with extra comforts.”

Singapore Airlines is showcasing the Premium Economy seats at Palladium, Mumbai on 03 & 04 October 2015 and at DLF Promenade, Delhi on 10 & 11 October 2015.
