Macao to emerge as World Tourism and Leisure Centre
Indian tourists occupy the top slot as high-spenders in Macao. MGTO has rolled out many attractive offers for Indian MICE tourists.
Considered as a World Tourism and Leisure Centre, the tourist destination of Macao that is highly favoured by Indian travellers has geared up well with convention and exhibition venues of global standards.
Arzan Khambatta, Head of Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO) India explained, “With the setting of the festive season, an increasing number of Indian tourists are planning their trips to Macao. We are striving hard to boost our theme-Experience Macao your own style in the Indian tourism sector and to push the attraction of Macao as a World Tourism and Leisure Centre. Our strategy emphasizes upon forming joint co-operation with travel agents and collaborations with the travel trade to highlight Macao as a major holiday destination. Very recently, we hosted a photography event- Colours of Macao in association with Nat Geo Traveller to enable photographers to explore the diverse colours and festivals of Macao.”
India continues to be a significant source market for Macao. Khambatta said, “The outbound Indian tourists are our biggest high-spenders in the field of shopping, accommodation and dining out. Indian tourists not only indulge in shopping in Macao but also prefer luxury four-star and five-star accommodations. Also most Indian tourists travel with their families and their spending capacity rises up. They are keen to experiment anything new to them.”
Macao possesses a highly conducive business ambience with its free port and independent tariff zone. Khambatta further said, “We offer Incentive Stimulation programme to the corporate groups looking ahead for MICE facilities in Macao.”
