AirAsia India carries 1.46m passengers in first full year

In its first full year of operations, AirAsia India carried a total of 1.46 million passengers on more than 10,000 flights.

Releasing its full-year results for 2015, the low-cost carrier also revealed that its average load factor was 81%. The strong full-year result marked a 324% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2014, although the airline only started operating in June of that year.

In the final quarter of 2015, AirAsia India carried 508,407 passengers with an average load factor of 84%. One new route was introduced during the quarter, linking New Delhi with Visakhapatnam, while flight frequencies were increased on two routes: Delhi-Goa and Delhi-Guwahati.

AirAsia India now flies to and from 11 Indian airports using a fleet of six Airbus A320 aircraft, all of which are equipped with a single economy class cabin.
