Inaugural Ryanair flight arrives in Amman

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board announced the arrival of the inaugural Ryanair flight from Paphos, Cyprus to Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport. The passenger flight on the European low-cost carrier arrived in Amman recently and was welcomed by Dr. Abed Al-Razzaq Arabiyat Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board and Mr. Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group.

At the welcome reception held at the Queen Alia International Airport attended by JTB and AIG staff in addition to local media Dr. Arabiyat said: “The arrival of the first Ryanair passenger flight is a positive indicator for this project. The Jordan Tourism Board has been working on extensive marketing campaigns to promote Jordan as a destination in the new markets served by Ryanair. The Kingdom’s rich tourism offering, through this partnership, will become more accessible to a broader segment of potential tourists. We’re excited to see this partnership grow and flourish over the next few years and to witness its impact on the local economy

Ryanair had announced in February that the first route from Paphos, Cyprus to Amman will begin in March of 2018 and will be followed by nine new routes to Amman’s Queen Alia Airport, and four new ones to Aqaba’s King Hussein International Airport at the shores of the Red Sea, all scheduled for winter 2018. The routes to Amman include Milan, Budapest, Bologna, Krakow, Bucharest, Paphos, Prague, Brussels, Vilnius, and Warsaw; whereas the routes to be launched in Aqaba include Athens, Rome, Cologne and Sofia.
