New Haryana line to link with Delhi Metro

Haryana government will construct a new high-speed rail corridor that will begin where the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line ends and stretch into Old Gurugram across the expressway.

The Haryana government will construct a new high-speed rail corridor that will begin where the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line ends and stretch into Old Gurugram across the expressway, spanning more than 14 stations spread over 12 km, according to officials familiar with the developments.

The project, finalised during a high-level meeting between chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and civic and industry officials on Friday, is aimed at boosting the city’s local transportation and giving people the option of going from the Gurugram railway station to Delhi with one changeover at Huda City Centre.

According to officials present at the meeting, the corridor will further be extended to city’s Sector 21 where it will be connected with another high-speed train project planned under Regional Rapid Transit System. This project, which was also cleared by the state government on Friday, will create a network that will end at Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan.

The government also decided to explore a third rapid transit project along Dwarka expressway from Kherki Daula to Dwarka in New Delhi.

“The project to provide connectivity from HCC up to the railway station was discussed in the meeting. It was decided that connectivity to Old Gurugram would also be ensured by extending the connectivity along the Sheetla Mata Road up to Rezangla Chowk and towards Sector 21 Gurugram completing the loop with the RRTS project coming up on the Old Delhi road,” said Khattar after the meeting.
