Air India communications go global with SITA
Air India has introduced a new communications solution that will link its global airport teams.
Using SITA Connect, the national carrier will be able to link its central hubs in Delhi and Mumbai with India’s six largest airports and all of its 93 international outstations. Air India has signed a seven-year contract with SITA for the new solution.
“Today airlines rely heavily on the ability to reliably and securely share information across their network of airports and offices. SITA has the technology, expertise and global reach to deliver that network infrastructure,” stated Maneesh Jaikrishna, SITA’s vice president for India and the sub-continent.
In addition, the airline will be able to use AirportHub, SITA’s shared infrastructure solution that allows airlines to connect all their applications and IT systems at an airport. And SITA will also provide both hardware and support to more than 500 Air India agents and employees globally.
“Having been a long-standing technology partner in aviation, SITA is able to fulfil the vision of passenger experience by identifying appropriate innovations covering network and communications that can help the airline to become more efficient and cost-effective,” said Ashwani Lohani, chairman & managing director of Air India. “This will help us benefit from the opportunities in the fast-growing Indian aviation market while elevating our international competitiveness.”
The latest agreement follows the previous agreement between Air India and SITA, which included the airline’s passenger management system and mobile app.
