Bullet train, Modi’s dream project is very much on the cards says Suresh Prabhu
Our PM believes in work and performance and like railways, he never stops,” said the minister.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked his Cabinet ministers to come up with department’s progress report over the reign of three years. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said, “Bullet train, Modi’s dream project is very much on the cards.”
He also said, “We are hopeful about gearing up work on bullet train after Japanese PM’s visit to India later this year.” A high-level team under Deputy Chairman of Niti Aayog, Finance Ministry official and Railway Chairman will be working and monitoring this project. Prime Minister Modi had asked for a report on the performance of Railway Ministry and work done in the last three years.
“We had set a target of railway electrification and are happy to say that we achieved more than expected in a matter of three years. Target of railway electrification was 1730 KM this year, but we have completed electrification work at 2000 km,” he added. Railway also achieved commissioning target for this year.
“PM wants to increase in the work speed and we are also keenly working on this,” he concluded.
