Most Outstanding Family Destination Jordan

Q. How do you feel about Jordan being recognized as the ‘Most Outstanding Family Destination’ by TnH magazine at its Travel & Hospitality Awards 2016?

Winning this award is a great honour to me. I am very thankful to TnH for recognizing Jordan as the ‘Most Outstanding Family Destination’, which will augment the promotion of Jordan Tourism and gain more confidence among the Indian travellers.

Q. What will you describe the most amazing thing about Jordan as a family destination?

Jordan has a lot to offer in terms of historic sites, wellness, culture, religious and leisure options. If travelling with kids is about bringing learning to life, then Jordan has much to offer. Not only is there history but there is the magic of adventure as well. Discover the lost city of Petra, gaze at the stars, sleep overnight in a desert camp and experience the sensation of floating in the Dead Sea or explore the coral reefs of the Red Sea. Jordan’s natural attributes, from the monolithic rockscapes of Wadi Rum to the lively centre of urban Amman or from the majestic ruins of Petra to the historical and spiritual splendor of the Dead Sea, are all unveiled as unique destinations offering breathtaking and mysterious sights, high standard accommodation and exquisite cuisine that makes Jordan a special family destination.

Q. So far, how has the year 2017 been for Jordan Tourism in India?

The Indian visitors to Jordan in 2015 were 44,584 and 2016 were 52,782 showcasing an increase of 18.40% in 2016. India is an extremely important target market as there is a tremendous scope to increase the Indian arrivals into Jordan. We are hopeful that all the efforts we put in the last few years will aid us in achieving more visitors in the year 2017. The Indian market is very much promising and ranks as one of the top emerging source markets for Jordan Tourism Board. We are constantly tapping various platforms and mediums that will help drive traffic to Jordan. The demand for the destination has increased and many agents are now offering Jordan as part of fixed departures and special itineraries.

Q. In what new and innovative ways do you plan to promote Jordan in India going forward?

Jordan witnessed several development in key tourist attractions, mainly in Petra, Aqaba and the Dead Sea, which cooperate in marketing Jordan as a tourist destination and raise its competitiveness. The recent archeological discovery of an enormous monument in Petra has brought Jordan closer to heritage.

The following market segments of Jordan presents significant development plan for India: History & Culture, Holyland Tourism, Eco & Wellness, Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events (MICE), Adventure and activity tourism, and Filming and Photography. The main aim is to promote Jordan more effectively and on a bigger scale and further encourage traffic to Jordan through multiple marketing campaigns.
