Air India to fly daily to San Francisco
Four more weekly flights to launch in November 2016
Air India will more than double the frequency of its Delhi-San Francisco route this winter, with the addition of four more weekly flights. The national carrier started flying to San Francisco in December 2015 and currently serves the route three times a week, with departures from Delhi every Wednesday, Friday and Monday. But from the start of the winter schedules in early November 2016, the frequency will increase to daily.
“We are flying planes with average 88% loads and are also meeting the total cost of the flight. We are going to make it a daily flight most likely from November,” a senior Air India official was quoted saying by the Economic Times.
Air India’s flights depart Delhi’s Indore Gandhi International Airport at 0230 and arrive in San Francisco at 0700 the same day. The return flights then depart at 1130 and arrive back in the Indian capital at 1555 the following day. The flight time is approximately 16 hours and Air India serves the route with its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
