Cinnamon Life presents Mamma Mia

The highly acclaimed London’s West End stage musical group to perform in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Theatre lovers are in for a treat as Cinnamon Life presents one of the world’s most loved musicals, Mamma Mia! for the very first time in Colombo, Sri Lanka this December. With a nine day run from 22nd to 30th December, London’s West End stage production will present the play for the first time in South Asia at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapakse Theatre in Colombo as part of their international tour. This is yet another initiative by Colombo’s upcoming lifestyle hub, Cinnamon Life that is known to offer a multitude of activities guaranteed to transform and uplift the quality of Colombo’s evolving lifestyle.

Having premiered in more than 440 major cities worldwide faster than any other musical in history, Mamma Mia! is currently in its 20th year since its first production that opened in London’s West End stage on 6th April 1999. It is the ninth longest running show in Broadway history and has been watched by more than 60 million people in 50 productions and 16 different languages. The musical is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East & Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, Stage Entertainment and NGM. West End star Shona White will play the lead character of Donna Sheridan while British actress Lucy May Barker of ‘Women in Black’ fame will essay the role of the daughter, Sophie Sheridan. Theatre and television actress Lottie Henshall as Lisa while Leisha Mollyneaux of ‘National Theatre Live’ fame as Ali are just a few of the internationally eminent artists taking the stage in Colombo this December.

Mamma Mia! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise. The international ensemble and talented leads will be part of the 75 member strong cast and crew from global production house Littlestar Services. With a total of 10 shows in Sri Lanka, the play will bring back hit songs from the legendary 70s band ABBA, such as ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Take a Chance on Me’, ‘Thank You for the Music’, ‘Money, Money, Money’, and ‘The Winner Takes It All’, that is sure to guarantee a spectacular night of theatre entertainment Sri Lanka has ever seen.

The worldwide smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! is presented by Cinnamon Life, an integrated development by Sri Lanka’s premier listed conglomerate, the John Keells Group. Cinnamon Life is envisioned to be the epicentre of modern South-east Asia offering an urban escape into world-class hospitality, entertainment and lifestyle. Tickets for the musical are available across 4 different seating categories, and are priced at LKR 7,500 (approx. INR 3,222), LKR 10,000 (approx. INR 4,295), LKR 15,000 (approx. INR 6,443) and LKR 20,000 (approx. INR 8,595).
