Delhi to host India’s first ever Adventure Sports Expo Asia & Awards 2018

 Adventure Sports Expo Asia 2018, India’s first and the biggest adventure extravaganza is all set to kick-start from January 27th-29th at Four Points by Sheraton, New Delhi. This unique and first of its kind expo will witness participation from over 60+ brands. The expo expects to welcome 15000+ visitors and adventure sports enthusiasts over the 3-day long adventure extravaganza. The expo has been extended support by various Ministries & forums- Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Air India – the official Airline partner,  ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association), UIAA (International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation), OTOAI (Outbound Tour Operators Association of India), IATO (The Indian Association of Tour Operators), ATOAI (Adventure Tour Operators of India), ADTOI (Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India), ESOI (Ecotourism Society of India), WAS (World Adventure Society).

The announcement was made today in a special curtain raiser event at The Constitutional Club of India in the presence of various dignitaries including Suman Billa, IAS – Joint Secretary of (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Tejbir Singh Anand – Vice President – Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, Archana Sardana – India’s first female BASE jumper. She is a certified skydiver and was the first Indian to skydive with Indian Flag in the United States of America. She is also the first woman Master Scuba Diver Trainer in India and has done multiple deep sea scuba dives in every corner of the globe. Ajeet Bajaj – Padma Shree Awardee & MD – Snow Leopard Adventures Pvt. Ltd and Rishi Narain – Asian Games Gold Medalist, Founder & MD, RN Sports Marketing Pvt. Ltd.

The three-day expo comprising the exhibition, speaker sessions, adventure activities, workshops and award night will act as a one-stop destination for adventure sports fraternity. Adventure Sports Expo Asia aims to catalyse the growth of adventure sports & responsible tourism by bringing in world-class gear equipment makers, expert trainers, best practices and technology advancement.

The expo will concentrate on building relationships amongst stakeholders of the Adventure and Ecotourism Industry on a single platform. The forum also aims to address various challenges faced by exhibitors through various sessions, hosted and chaired by luminaries such as Shannon Stowell- CEO of Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), Archana Sardana- India’s first and only woman BASE (Building, Antenna, Span and Earth) jumper, Ajeet Bajaj- first Indian to ski to the North Pole and to the South Pole within a year, Jake Norton- is a world-renowned climber, photographer, filmmaker, philanthropist, and inspirational speaker. Based in Evergreen, Colorado, Jake’s worldwide adventures have taken him to the summit of Mount Everest (three times) and on expeditions on all seven continents, Shekhar Babu- first Indian mountaineer, and the youngest, to climb Mt. Everest, Ravi Kumar- Ravi Kumar is the India Program Director at National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Headquartered in the US, NOLS is among the world’s biggest outdoor schools and operates at 15 locations globally.

India Program Director at National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Suzanne Al Houby- first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest, Wade Campbell- an experienced trainer for delivering outdoor adventure, Mohit Midha- a certified advanced diver among others.

Adventure Sports Expo Asia has also come up with a special speaker session by women in adventure sports. The main motto of this panel discussion is to create awareness & motivate women towards adventure sports along with creating more opportunities in India. This women-led session will witness presence of luminaries such as Archana Sardana- India’s first and only woman BASE (Building, Antenna, Span and Earth) jumper, Dr Neharika Yadav- she is a Superbike Racer and a Dental Surgeon, Suzanne Al Houby- first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest, Malavath Purna- she scaled the highest peak of Mount Everest and, aged 13 years and 11 months, became the youngest girl in the world to have reached the summit of Everest.
