Indian fans gear up for Singapore Grand Prix

Singapore is all set for this year’s edition of the 2016 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX starting from 16 September to 18 September, 2016. Complementing the race is the Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS), which begins from September 9 to September 18. The season also features an exciting line-up of lifestyle events, activities and promotions in various precincts in Singapore for fans to make the best of the racing season.

The 2016 FORMULA 1 Singapore Airlines, SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX continues to enthrall crowds with its unique combination of night race action and world-class entertainment in its ninth installation. The world’s finest drivers go wheel-to-wheel under lights at speeds of up to 320km/h, threading the barriers around Singapore’s picturesque Marina Bay featuring a spectacular backdrop of iconic heritage buildings, modern architecture and a stunning skyline.

Indian fans have geared up for the event with great enthusiasm, which was witnessed at the contests organized by Singapore Tourism Board (STB). STB India partnered with Singapore GP Pte Ltd and two sporting companies – Fans on Stands and Sports Konnect to organize Go-Kart contests in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. The winners from each city won a pair of race packages, and they will be flying to Singapore to experience the thrills of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix first hand.

Regional Director, SAMEA, Mr. GB Srithar said,“Singapore is a year-round destination and offers the Indian travelers a plethora of options to choose from for a memorable holiday. September is a great month to visit as the air is filled with excitement and energy from the F1 season. Apart from the racing action, there’s also a lot happening in terms of parties, music concerts as there is a great level of enthusiasm at this time of the year.”

Ms Jean Ng, Director, Sports, Singapore Tourism Board said “We are pleased to present Grand Prix Season Singapore as the unique complement once again to The 2016 Formula 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX As this is the 9th year for both the race and season, we are looking to push the envelope in adrenaline-fuelled fun with more than 100 lifestyle events and promotions from new and existing industry stakeholders.”
