ixigo urges women to break stereotypes & travel

ixigo launches #RukJaanaNahi campaign on Women’s Day

On the occasion of Women’s Day, travel marketplace ixigo is encouraging women to leave behind all stigmas and travel without any apprehensions. With the video: #RukJaanaNahi, ixigo is urging women to go out there and embrace the joy of travel. This will change the way people perceive travel for women in India.

Though travel is an essential part of each one’s life, women in India have been subjected to various forms of taboo surrounding travel. Women have always had to hear phrases such as – Log kya Kahenge?’, ‘Shaadi ke baad Jaana!’, ‘Kya karogi jaake?’ etc. from people around them. This video is ixigo’s way of bringing to the forefront the reality of this situation.

Commenting on the campaign, Aloke Bajpai, ixigo CEO & Co-founder said, “This women’s day, our endeavor is to educate people about the stigma that is limiting women to experience the joy of travel. Our video strikingly highlights the true experiences of women being subjected to various taboos that are attached to travel, especially in India. We want women to break free from apprehensions and make travel a part of their lives. We would love for all women to become a part of this revolution. Tell us about instances when you had to compromise on travel plans, and also how you overcame the hurdles! Use #RukJaanaNahi @ixigo while posting on Twitter. You could also join the conversation on Facebook.”

Taking this one step forward, ixigo is also addressing the problem of women having to face poor hygiene and sanitation while travelling. ixigo has partnered with Pee-Buddy to help out women by providing them with the perfect solution. ixigo will be giving out free ‘Travel Hygiene Kits’ to women travellers on Women’s Day.
