Kung Fu Panda Adventure Ice World with the DreamWorks All-Stars opens at The Venetian Macao

Wintery opening ceremony sees popular ice sculpture exhibition back at Cotai Expo for fifth year

It may have been a chilly minus 8 degrees celsius, but that didn’t cool the enthusiasm of scores of visitors at the opening ceremony of Asia’s largest indoor frozen wonderland, Kung Fu Panda Adventure Ice World with the DreamWorks All-Stars, returning to The Venetian® Macao’s Cotai Expo March 16 – July 9, 2017.

The ceremony saw enthusiastic children performing kung fu under the instructions of Kung Fu Panda himself at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo Hall F, whereKung Fu Panda Adventure Ice World with the DreamWorks All-Stars opens to the public 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily (last admission at 7:30 p.m.).

Now in its fifth triumphant year, Ice World is organised by Sands Resorts Macao with participation from Heilongjiang Provincial Ice Fun World Culture Communication Co. Ltd, and supported by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

The unique event sees thousands of blocks of multi-coloured ice skillfully carved into amazingly detailed sculptures by a team of expert craftsmen from Harbin in northern China. This year’s show includes a host of colourful DreamWorks Animation characters from “Kung Fu Panda”, “Madagascar”, “Shrek”, “How To Train Your Dragon”, “The Croods” and “Trolls”, vibrantly brought to life with dazzling lights and stunning sound effects. In addition to the seven ice sculpture zones, newadditions including themed games and savoury snacks, merchandise, merchandise and character meet-and-greets make this year’s Ice World an experience that can’t be missed.

Following a cocktail event, officiating guests Ms. Cecilia Tse, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourism Office, Mr. Zuo XiangHua, Director of Economic Affairs Department of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region; Mr. Dave Horton, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Las Vegas Sands Corp. & Sands China Ltd., and Mr. Bai Wei, General Manager of Heilongjiang Provincial Ice Fun World Culture Communication Co. Ltd took part in the activation moment by placing a snowball on the ice mountain. This triggered a beautiful downfall of snow in Expo Hall F, launching this year’s Kung Fu Panda Adventure Ice World with the DreamWorks All-Stars to dazzling effect.

“We work hard to bring our visitors of all ages a wide variety of exciting and diverse entertainment options at Sands Resorts Macao, and this year’s Kung Fu Panda Adventure Ice World with the DreamWorks All-Stars represents one of the biggest family events in Macao,” said Mr. Horton.

“These are all important elements in Sands Resorts Macao’s multi-tiered entertainment strategy, which aims to diversify Macao’s tourism offerings and reinforce its position as a world centre of tourism and leisure and one of the premier entertainment destinations in the region.”

Speaking at the event, Bai Wei thanked the Department of Culture of Heilongjiang Province, the Heilongjiang provincial government and the Macao Government Tourism Office as well as The Venetian Macao for its great support and warm hospitality, and said he hoped everyone would enjoy a “spectacular” Ice World experience.

“In creating [these ice sculptures] we used approximately 6,000 ice blocks, equivalent to 1,250 tons, which required 300 hours of crafting to complete. Thanks to the passion and the enthusiasm of our ice sculpture masters, this exhibition is a world-class ice craft art show.”
