Q. How do you feel about your airline being honoured with the ‘Most Outstanding Airline – Premium Economy & Economy’ award by TnH magazine at its Travel & Hospitality Awards 2016?

We are proud to be honoured as the ‘Most Outstanding Airline – Premium Economy and Economy’. It is an honour to be felicitated by a credible publication on the basis of their readers’ and reviewers’ choice. Vistara was born to fill the void by addressing the unfulfilled needs of the travellers in India. This award is a strong endorsement that Vistara is on the right track to deliver on its promise to transform the flying experience in India, forever. The growing popularity of our brand and increase in the number of customers who have flown with us only reinforces our commitment to operational and service excellence, and product innovation as we bring the new feeling to flying in India. This award is a recognition of the entire team’s hard work and perseverance to redefine the way travellers perceive and experience air travel.

Q. What in your opinion makes your airline the ‘Most Outstanding Airline in Premium Economy & Economy Class’?

Vistara carries the lineage of Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, two global iconic brands respected for their highest standards of service excellence, customer centricity and innovation. We introduced many industry-firsts in our product and service offerings which include being the first Indian carrier to pioneer a new class of travel – Premium Economy – in the skies, offering a lot of privileges, greater comfort and exceptional customer experience. The introduction of Premium Economy overturns the convention, whereby one can have exclusivity and comfort without having to pay a lot. Our Premium Economy features include priority check-in, boarding, disembarkation and an exclusive cabin which were privileges previously reserved only for those flying Business Class.

Vistara’s Economy cabin is not just another ordinary economy class. Through our unmatched offerings, our endeavour has always been to push the boundaries. Well cushioned and comfortable leather seats, sumptuous food served in innovative meal box and world-class service delivered by our well-trained crew, trained by Singapore Airlines, makes our economy class stand head and shoulder above the rest.

Q. What do your customers value the most about your airline?

We are happy that we have been able to create a special place in the hearts of our customers by delivering an array of services tailored according to their requirements. Our customers are highly appreciative of the differentiated products and service elements– our trendsetting three class configuration, innovative menu that constantly evolves with the changing requirements of our customers, hassle-free check-in process, world class signature lounge, and all new Club Vistara, the fastest rewarding frequent flyer program, just to state a few.

Q. How will you rate the success of Vistara since its launch?

It is rewarding to see the immensely positive customer reception of the Vistara brand in such a short period of time. By our first anniversary last year, we had flown over 1 million happy customers. Since then, we have quadrupled that number in a little over 12 months, having flown more than 4 million customers. The airline has been able to redefine air travel in India by creating product and services that are exclusive yet value for money.

Q. Tell us about your expansion plans. When are you going to start your overseas operations?

We are committed to growing our footprint in the country. We have connected 19 destinations across the country in only 24 months, and gearing up to welcome five Airbus A320 neos, our first in the current financial year. We have already added Amritsar and Leh to our growing network at the start of 2017. Our 20th aircraft is expected to arrive by June 2018, which would make us eligible to fly overseas. At present we are sharpening our plans, putting together the strategies and preparing ourselves for the complexities that flying overseas would bring along and the magnitude of work this would require.
