Omeir Travel wins RezLive.com-Travelwebme 2016 Cricket Tournament

Abu Dhabi-based Omeir Travel Agency trounced Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA) in a thrilling finale to win the RezLive.com-Travelwebme 2016 Cricket Tournament. While SATA dominated the first innings, Omeir Travel bounced back in the second innings to emerge victorious, clinching the second edition of the cricket tournament.

The tournament, which was held for travel agencies in the UAE, was a friendly platform to showcase the sporting skills of travel agents, and acknowledge the spirit of healthy competition. Held on May 19, the one-day tournament saw seven teams participate: Omeir Travel Agency, SATA, Al Hind Travel, Al Rostamani Travel, Ocean Air, Al Naboodah Travel and Musafir.com, at United Pro Sports, the popular indoor multi-sport arena in Al Quoz.

Matches played

The tournament consisted of four knockout matches, two semi-finals and the final. Al Naboodah Travel and Omeir Travel played the first semi-final, with Omeir Travel moving on to the final, the match between SATA and Al Hind Travel ended in SATA sailing through to the finals. Each match included two innings and 8-overs per side, with eight players in each team. Shayam from Omeir Travel was selected as the Man of the Tournament.

Trophies were handed out to the winners by Jaal Shah, Managing Director of RezLive.com. The runners-up received prizes from Travelwebme.com. Falguni Patel, Founder of Brainscape Games, a company that offers an interactive and live ‘escape game’ concept, handed out vouchers to winners of both teams, as one of the sponsors of the event and presented the Man of the Tournament trophy to Mr. Shayam.
