The Marketing Events Awards, produced by Marketing magazine, recognise and honour the best of Asia’s event marketing, management and planning industry. It is regarded as the most prestigious event for event marketers and planners, highlighting creative excellence, strategic marketing and operational precision, alongside contributions made to the industry.

With around 300 quality submissions across multiple categories, the 2017 awards were judged by senior marketers across North Asia and Marketing magazine’s editorial board, with outstanding entrants awarded with gold, silver and bronze trophies at the gala dinner. The Parisian Macao grand opening, ten months in the planning, was one of the most ambitious hospitality concepts ever realised and the culmination of an US$13 billion investment by Sands China Ltd. in its Cotai Strip resorts. Events on the day included a lion parade and blessing ceremony, press conference, red carpet and cocktail reception, opening ceremony, gala dinner in The Parisian Ballroom and a VIP poolside after-party.

The massive creative and logistical process saw the base of The Parisian Macao’s half-scale Eiffel Tower transformed into a large event stage, where 70 cast and crew members, including singers and dancers, plus Lara Fabian, the best-selling Belgian female artist of all time, and leading Chinese actor and singer Karen Mok, performed a grand opening show.

An eight-metre hot air balloon dropped the main characters on the stage, along with a multimedia finale complete with choreographed fireworks and stunning light show on the 525-foot tower. The Sands China team consisted of 1,600 staff, management and crew and cast, while around 1,500 guests including celebrities and senior Macao government officials, plus 400 media attended the event.

Meanwhile The Parisian Macao’s grand opening partner Uniplan, an international full-service agency offering creative solutions to trade fairs and major events, picked up two awards, Best of Show – Agency and Best Event Team. “It was a privilege to work on this amazing project and such an honour to be awarded Best of Show – Agency and Gold for Best Event Team,” said Daphne Choi, managing director, Uniplan Hong Kong. “2016 was a tremendous year for us and I can’t be more proud of the team for achieving so much. These awards are a true reflection of our hard work, dedication and passion in creating unique and impactful experiential solutions.”

Inspired by the famed “City of Light”, The Parisian Macao is Sands Resorts Macao’s newest integrated resort. It features a half-size replica of the Eiffel Tower which sits majestically at the hotel’s entrance, and includes a full array of integrated resort facilities, approximately 3,000 guestrooms and suites, convention and meeting space, international restaurants, spa, kids’ club, health club, pool deck with themed water park, along with a 1,200-seat theatre and entertainment.
