The Sukhothai Shanghai officially joins Small Luxury Hotels of the World
Small Luxury Hotels of the World announced its newest member hotel in China, The Sukhothai Shanghai, which is to open on 28th April. The official joining ceremony was held today at The Sukhothai Shanghai.
The contemporary lifestyle hotel is conveniently located at HKRI Taikoo Hui in the vibrant Jingan district which offers a shopping mall and access to the Shanghai Metro. Designed by internationally-acclaimed Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, the 201-room luxury hotel marks the first foray into Mainland China’s hospitality scene by the prestigious Sukhothai Hotels & Resorts. The neighbourhood is easy to explore on foot with People’s Square, Grand Theatre and Shanghai Natural Museum all nearby.
Ranging from 44 to 172 square-metres, the guest rooms are among the largest in the city. The hotel features natural materials including environmentally-friendly diatom-silica clay walls, which are highly effective in air purification, humidity regulation and sound absorption to create a healthy and peaceful environment.
The hotel will include La Scala restaurant – led by Michelin-starred guest chef Theodor Falser and Chef de Cuisine Stefano Sanna – serving fresh-to-order contemporary Italian cuisine from an open theatre kitchen. Additional restaurants and bars include URBAN Café & Lounge where guests can create their own tea blend from a herb trolley with over 18 infused fresh herbs, The ZUK Bar featuring artisanal and classic cocktails as well as Nordic cuisine at daytime, and Beans & Grapes serving wholesome comfort food and beverages by day and Asian-inspired tapas paired with wine by night. The Retreatwill offer a range of Southeast Asian healing therapies and signature wellness programmes, and guests can also workout at the Fitness Studio’s 25-metre heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
