VITO sets sights on big-spending Indian tourists

Indonesia has plenty of marvels to offer to the delight of travellers and VITO is making a major headway to entice the big-spending travellers and corporate groups from India.

South-East Asian destination that provides the thrill of multi-destination itinerary with a bag full of varied attractions is Indonesia. Indian travellers holidaying in Indonesia can get to experience adventure, pristine beaches, nightlife, casinos et al in a single tour. With the growing willingness of Indians to travel abroad, Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO) is doing its best to tap the wellheeled class of Indian travellers and plans to flaunt the best of Indonesia to corporate-decision makers.

According to Shelly Chandhok, Country Manager, VITO-India, “The rise in disposable income of middle-class Indians has made them to spend a fortune on foreign travel. There is a significant growth in travel among free individual travellers, leisure, adventure, honeymoon, wedding and MICE segments. We are making our presence at travel fairs and hosting road shows in various Indian cities in order to lure the free individual travellers, honeymoon couples, wedding and MICE groups.”

India today figures as the fastest growing outbound market across the globe next to China and it is expected that the tourism figures from India would rise up steadily in the coming years. Chandhok said, “There would be an increase in the number of Indian tourists from 15 million to 50 million by 2020.

The current targets of VITO are :

  • Eyeing tier-II and tier-III cities of India.
  • Luring Indian wedding planners.
  • Attracting free individual travellers, leisure, honeymoon couples, adventure and MICE groups.
  • Enticing big-spending travellers.

"“With the tremendous success of recently concluded TAAI Convention, we are hopeful that India would attain the status of primary source market,”"
