Zambia conducts first roadshow in India

Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) recently conducted its maiden roadshow in India, with the aim of educating agents and enticing more travellers.

Events were held in Delhi and Mumbai, gathering travel trade representatives from both cities to learn more about Zambia’s tourist attractions.

“Zambia witnessed an increase of 30% in Indian arrivals in 2015 over 2014. This increase has led us to believe in India as an emerging source market with high potential,” said Felix Chaila CEO of ZTA. “We had earlier participated in trade fairs in India. These roadshows mark the beginning of our aggressive approach to increase tourist arrivals from India which is our fastest growing market in Asia.”

The Zambian delegation included representatives from several tourism companies, including Chiawa Camp & Old Mondoro, Luciano Tours & Travel, Mambo Tourism Creation & Consultancy, Maxmus Travel and Tours, Sigo Adventures & Tours, Taj Pamodzi and Winning Travel Tours.

Zambia is enhancing its offerings to Indian travellers, including the launch of online visa applications with a processing time of three working days. Indian travellers are also exempted from the standard yellow fever vaccination certificate.

ZTA, formerly known as Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB), entered the Indian market in 2013 and has appointed Blue Square Consultants as its Indian representative.

There are no direct flights between India and Zambia, but travellers are offered one-stop connections with Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Emirates.
