Lords Hotels & Resorts observes World Blood Donors Day

The Hotel Chain ties up with local Municipal Blood Banks & Raises Awareness on Emergency Preparedness

India’s leading mid-market hospitality chain – Lords Hotels & Resorts observed World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) on 14th June across its hotels. As part of the initiative, the hotel chain campaigned in line with World Health Organization’s (WHO) focus this year on blood donation in emergencies. Each of its hotel units tied up with the nearest blood bank and deposited blood which would be utilized for blood transfusion for emergency care. Close to three hundred people including hotel employees volunteered to participate in the campaign and collectively donated over 130 L of blood on the day. The objective of the campaign was to generate awareness on the importance of giving blood regularly, so that there is always a sufficient blood stock in case of emergencies.

“The most important take away from the activity was getting to understand the need for a constant supply and inventory of blood at the blood banks. We may be donating blood on a case to case basis which goes to replenish the used amounts of blood. However millions of people are affected by medical emergencies every year and there is a continuous requirement of blood for both anticipated and unanticipated transfusions. By being part of this campaign and having understood the importance of donating blood regularly, we are hopeful that many of us will continue to practice it,” says Mr PR Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director, Lords Hotels & Resorts.

14 June of each year is celebrated as World Blood Donor Day. The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. “We are thankful to all those who proactively came forward to be part of this noble campaign and for making it a success. We are also thankful to all the local blood banks for their services and their support. Most of all we feel glad that we were part of a very simple yet so critical a drive. Making blood available to whoever is in need is a life-saving deed and a gift from humankind and to humankind. We are positive that we have made a significant impact in raising awareness by becoming a part of the campaign this year,” concludes Mr Rishi Puri, Vice President, Lords Hotels & Resorts.
