Madrid first of seven new Air India destinations
The launch of Air India’s new route to Madrid this week will mark the start of a period of significant expansion for the national carrier.
The new service from Delhi to the Spanish capital on 1 December 2016 will mark the airline’s arrival in Spain. And Air India’s chairman & managing director, Ashwani Lohani, revealed by Twitter that following this launch, the national carrier planned to add a further six destinations to its route map next year.
“Madrid connection starts on 1st Dec to be followed by another at least six new connections in 2017. Great expansion plans for Air India,” Lohani told his social media followers.
While the details of the new routes were not revealed, it has been reported that Air India is planning to launch its first flights to the African continent, as well as Tel Aviv and Washington DC. Earlier this year Air India launched flights to Vienna.
