NYC & Company, New York City’s official, destination marketing organization, is leading a tourism delegation to Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi fromSeptember 11-15 to promote travel to New York City. The tourism delegation is part of NYC & Company’s trade and media efforts to promote the “new” NYC in the Indian market. Earlier this year, the U.S.-India Travel and Tourism Partnership Year kicked off as a platform allowing both governments and private sectors to increase travel and tourism between the two countries

“New York City is experiencing developments across all five boroughs and we are proud to showcase these new developments including hotels, infrastructure, attractions, public art and more to Indian visitors” said NYC & Company president and CEO Fred Dixon.

The City’s many evolving neighborhoods continue to provide visitors with a range of diverse and authentic experiences. Highlights include the “New” Midtown with new attractions Gulliver’s Gate (opened May 9), National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey (debuting October 2017) and NFL Experience Times Square (November 2017).

“New York City welcomed an estimated 319,000 visitors from India in 2016, reflecting a growth of 10% since the previous year.” said Ms. Makiko Matsuda Healy, Senior Vice President Global Tourism Development. “The City maintains its position as one of the most desirable destinations for both business and leisure travellers from India.”

New York City welcomed 60.7 million visitors in 2016, the City’s seventh consecutive year for record-breaking tourism, with 48 million domestic and 12.7 million international visitors. The destination is expected to welcome 61.7 million visitors in 2017.

The tourism delegation will coincide with the Brand USA India sales mission from September 11-15.
