STDC to launch temple stay tourism project
STDC’s signature project- Temple Stay is all set to offer the holiday of a lifetime to discerning travellers.
The Himalayan land of Sikkim is buzzing with an array of festivals in the coming period. There is Namchi Mahotsav in South Sikkim that will show off the festivals of ethnic communities of Sikkim from November 2 to 4.
Nearly 50 delegates from across the country are making their presence at Namchi Mahotsav. According to Rup Narayan Rai, Chairman, Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation Limited (STDC), “Another attraction of the Mahotsav is the wide range of adventure tourism activities including paragliding, traversing, artificial bouldering, rock climbing and bungee jumping. There are some new eco-tourist destinations around Namchi that are thrown open for tourists. These include the touristfriendly Kitam Bird Sanctuary and Taraybhir High Ridge, both lying around 10 km from Namchi.”
STDC has drawn up an ambitious, one-of-a-kind tourism project- Temple stay that is all set to kick off sometime in early 2016. Rai said, “Travellers get to stay for a couple of days at Char Dham with the priests performing the rituals and offering info on the tradition, rituals and customs of the shrine.
