Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona launches ‘Opera flavours experience’ accommodation package

 Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is offering guests an opportunity to experience a combination of the finest opera, Michelin-starred gastronomy and luxurious five-star accommodation. Available from 14 September 2018 to 29 January 2019, the hotel’s Opera Flavours experience luxury accommodation package includes premier tickets to the opera at Barcelona’s famous Liceu Opera Barcelona and exclusive Opera tasting menu at Moments restaurant.

At the hotel’s two-Michelin-starred Moments restaurant, seven-Michelin-star Carme Ruscalleda and her son Raül Balam will present a tasting menu inspired by the world of opera. Guests will be able to choose from twelve opera-themed dishes, including the Three Tenors, which is Italian tigella bread and squid stuffed with sausage, Wagner,made with German cheese and beetroot, and The Marriage of Figaro, made with white garlic, Spanish dried peppers, Sevillan olives and sardines. Served on opera-inspired crockery, these dishes will make the world of opera come alive for guests’ taste-buds, complementing what they see and hear on stage.

To make their evening at Liceu Opera Barcelona truly exceptional, guests will be given a private VIP tour of this historic cultural icon. Starting at the opera house entrance, the tour will take in the elegant Renaissance-styled Vestibul del Teatre, before continuing to the Hall of Mirrors, which has been a meeting place for the Catalan bourgeoisie for many years. Cava will then be served at the Circulo del Liceo, an English-style private club with an impressive art collection that has been favoured by local high society since it was founded in 1847.

Depending on when guests book the Musical and gastronomic opera experience package, they can choose to see either Don Quixote, I Puritani, L’Italiana in Algeri or Madama Butterfly. During the opera intermission, cava and appetizers will be served.
