Peru: Empire of Hidden Treasures

Peru: Empire of Hidden Treasures

Augments its promotional initiatives by imparting destination knowledge and increasing destination visibility!

Earlier this year, the Lonely Planet Magazine Indian Awards 2016, recognized Peru as the Best International Emerging Destination for the year 2016. Peru is no longer unfamiliar for the Indian traveler. The fact that it is a land of many hidden treasures is known by one and all. The seminar organized by the Commercial Office of Peru in India, aptly titled, “Peru: Empire of Hidden Treasures” was aimed at those Indian tourists who are yet to explore the wonders of Peru.

This Emerging Destination has a lot to share with its travelers and those who attended the seminar had the opportunity to enjoy some of it. The majestic Amazon jungle, the Andes mountain range, the extraordinary architecture of the capital city Lima, ancient cultures and cities like Caral, the majestic city of Machu Picchu and the city of Cusco that leaves an indelible impression on you, were all present to mesmerize the Indian traveler. The striking richness of culture and heritage combined with the scintillating dazzle of the beaches and highlands makes Peru an indispensable destination on the travel list of any Indian looking for novel experiences.

Keeping in mind that Peru has been recognized as the World’s Best Culinary Destination six years in a row, by the World Travel Awards, all attendees had the chance to enjoy some scrumptious Peruvian dishes served at this event.

Year on year, the number of tourists from India to Peru has been increasing by almost 20% on an average. The Commercial Office of Peru in India has highlighted that this upward trend in number of Indians visiting Peru, for leisure as well as business, is now firmly established. The changing tastes of the Indian traveler and the developing commercial and investment ties between India and Peru are both factors that will continue to contribute to this upward trend. For the Indian tourist travelling for leisure, Peru is away from what is hackneyed and gives one a chance to explore the unexplored, the untold and the imaginative! In terms of business travel, aspects like the Free Trade Agreement, already underway between India and Peru will contribute positively to outbound travel from India to Peru.

For all its hidden treasures, Peru just has to be one of those countries you visit, at least once, during your lifetime!
