flydubai celebrates its 2nd anniversary in Mumbai
Airline continues to build trade and tourism links between Mumbai and Dubai
Dubai-based flydubai today marked the second anniversary of its service between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and Dubai International’s Terminal 2. Launched in 2014, with five direct flights a week, flydubai’s Mumbai operations offer enhanced connectivity, greater choice and flexibility from Mumbai to its home city of Dubai and beyond to 90 destinations on the growing flydubai network.
Commenting on the second anniversary, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said: “We thank the Government authorities for their constant support throughout our journey in India. With trade between India and the United Arab Emirates crossing US$ 59bn between 2014 and 2015, the two countries are key trading partners. The demand remains strong for flights from Mumbai and we are proud to contribute to the strong relationship between India and the UAE. We remain committed quality and reliable travel services between the two countries.”
Dubai is at the heart of the global industry and appeals to travel enthusiasts as well due to its world class attractions and connectivity to the rest of the world. Mumbai is the business hub of India and home to Bollywood, one of the world’s largest film industries. Since the start of operations to Mumbai in October 2016, traffic on the Dubai-Mumbai route has increased and has thus contributed to enhancing the cultural, tourist and business links between the two markets.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President, Commercial (GCC, Subcontinent and Africa) for flydubai, said: “At this milestone of our anniversary in Mumbai, we would like to reiterate our commitment enabling connectivity between the two markets. We welcome all Indian travellers to experience flydubai’s dedicated service and Dubai hospitality.”
flydubai continues to enhance its product offering having recently launched its rewards programme “OPEN”. The programme is designed to make earning and spending reward points simple and straightforward, with no minimum balances or blackout dates.
flydubai has recently introduced WiFi connectivity and Live TV on selected flights and continues to roll out the service across its fleet. Passengers travelling both in Business and Economy Classes have access to an award winning interactive audio and video seat back entertainment system with more than 2,000 hours of films, television and music.
flydubai currently operates five flights a week to Mumbai from Dubai in addition to flights to seven more destinations across India including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram.
