The King of Reggae – Bob Marley’s Birthday Celebrations 2015

Jamaica is all set to celebrate the anniversary of the world famous musician Bob Marley on 6th February. The island country rejoices the icon’s birthday every year. The birthplace of reggae music and legendary Bob Marley will be full of revelry on 6th and 7th February this year.
Activities to mark the 70th anniversary of Bob Marley’s birthday will take place on February 6 at the Bob Marley Museum on Hope Road and Tuff Gong Studio on Marcus Garvey Drive. The day’s activities will include symposiums on Reggae Music and Reggae Jam sessions with Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid and Nomaddz.
Bob Marley Foundation will also host a concert on Kingston’s Waterfront on February 7. The concert will include performance by The Marley brothers along with other local artistes. Both these events are free for the visitors.
Robert Nesta Marley, affectionately called as Bob Marley has ardent followers around the world. Reggae fans and Rastafarians commemorate his birthday with huge enthusiasm. Jamaica, especially Kingston witnesses various events in the Bob Marley Museum. The museum is where the reggae legend once lived and recorded his music, which is now a famous tourist attraction of Kingston. The museum is a home to a small theatre where a presentation on the life of Bob Marley is played for its visitors. The museum also displays the legends memorabilia where one can shop authentic African crafts and enjoy some delicious cuisines at the near by restaurants.
Bob Marley was born in 1945 and died at the age of 36 leaving a list of hit songs like – ‘One Love’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘Jammings’, ‘No Woman No Cry’, etc. Marley’s birthday celebrations include concerts and other programmes as tribute to the legendary native of the island.
For the Reggae fans, Nine Mile Tour in Jamaica is another famous and must do activity. Nine Mile is a small village where Bob Marley was born and later buried. Bob Marley Mausoleum has many historical artifacts including guitars, awards, photographs, etc.
Jamaica which typically attracts visitors around the year to soak up some sun is also a haven for reggae and Marley fans. Every year the natives gather to celebrate the life and work of this phenomenal artist and enjoy events evoking the memory of Jamaica’s favourite son. The country also witnesses thousands of music fans to experience and participate in the festival and enjoy the beats of reggae.
