New Tourism Policy to Provide for Single Window Clearance for MICE
FICCI recently organized the second edition of its annual Global MICE Travel Mart, jointly with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, bringing together a large section of stakeholders at one platform to assess new developments, future prospect, and most importantly, showcasing India’s MICE potential to buyers, foreign as well as domestic.
Speaking on the occasion, Satyajeet Rajan, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India informed that the government is giving final touches to the new National Tourism Policy, which will provide single window clearance for organizing meetings and conferences. Rajan agreed that there is a need to provide incentives to this sector to make it competitive in the world market. He said that there was a pressing need to conduct a study to assess size of the industry and a consultant was being appointed to suggest a workable roadmap for the development of the sector. Rajan also informed that the MoT is very soon going to launch new Incredible India Campaign, which will, among other things, showcase India’s MICE potentials to the world. Talking about MICE opportunities in Maharashtra, Aashutosh Rathod, Tourism Director, Maharashtra said that there was a need for an integrated approach and closer coordination among the various industry players. Rathod informed that his state is developing new convention centers in cities like Puna and Nasik. The three-day mart (September 14- 16) was held in The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. On the occasion, FICCI-MRSS Knowledge Paper on ‘MICE Tourism Powerhouse of a New Era Tourism’ was unveiled that suggests a six-point roadmap for development of India as a MICE hotspot.

- Promote concept of exclusive MICE tourism to target markets
- Developing time bound action plan
- Imbibe skill development and connect it with livelihood Imbibe latest technological upgrades and incorporate them in marketing communications
- Create experiences for the visitors and ask for recommendations
