ADTOI to host its convention at Khajuraho
MP Chief Minister expected to grace the inaugural function
Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) has announced the dates and venue of its seventh annual convention cum exhibition. The three day event will be held at Ramada Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, from April 8-11. The event this year has been themed ‘Domestic Tourism: Billion plus opportunity’. ADTOI Vice President, Sanjay Aggarwal, has been appointed at the Convention Chairman with Executive Committee member, Dalip Gupta and Immediate Past President, Subhash Verma as the Convention Co-chairmen.
“MP Tourism has graciously agreed to host us. We have chosen, through MP Tourism, Khajuraho as the convention venue which is one of the rarest of rarest place in the world,” said Jyoti Kapur, President, ADTOI, while announcing the venue. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister along with Minister for tourism and senior state bureaucrats are expected to grace the occasion.
Further terming domestic tourism as the back bone of India tourism, Kapur pointed that some of the recent events and initiatives like Jal-mahotsav will greatly benefit from the events like ADTOI’s and other conventions that MP has hosted in the recent past. He also said that recent trend at destinations like Khajuraho indicates 50 per cent decline in foreign tourist arrivals whereas domestic tourism is all season, all weather, business that can weather any storm. “This is an appropriate time for the domestic tourism to make a mark,” he stressed.
Informing that the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was particularly keen to host ADTOI convention when the proposal was brought to him, O V Chaudhary, Executive Director, MPSTDC, said that state is committed to establish Madhya Pradesh as one of the frontline tourism destinations in the country. He said that domestic tourism is the mainstay of MP Tourism and destinations like Khajuraho with its beautiful temples and carving, a phenomenal light and sound show, attractive destinations like Panna National Park in the vicinity makes for great tourism products that needs to be promoted in the domestic market.
He said that in terms of infrastructure like road, connectivity and accommodation Khajuraho is ready to welcome tourists.
Lauding the wholehearted support for the convention, Aggarwal said that the event provides ADTOI members opportunity to explore untapped destinations in the heart of incredible India. “The prime objective of conducting this convention is to bring Khajuraho on the domestic tourism map. The itinerary of the convention has been designed to promote Khajuraho and the places around it,” he said. He also informed that the convention will have several brainstorming sessions which may answers a lot of questions that arise on a day to day basis. Around 250-300 delegates are expected to attend the event.
